Mount Tambora erupted in which 10 to 11 April 1815, in the annals of Dompu, resulting in three small kingdoms (Concentration, Tambora, and Sanggar) located in the vicinity of Tambora was destroyed. The third area was too small kingdoms then became part of the Kingdom of Dompu.
Added Dompu Sultanate territory was considered to be a sign of new birth for the New Dompu, namely turnover between Dompu Old to New Dompu.
These events illustrate the birth of an increasingly wide area Dompu territory.
Helyus historians reveal Shamsuddin, 11 April 1815 event was eventually used as the birthday of Dompu, which was then reinforced with Regional Regulation No. 18 dated June 19, 2004.

Tambora, THE MYSTERY OF A NEW Dompu birth
As in other areas of Lombok, Sumbawa and Bima, Dompu Yore is also one of the former Kingdom or Empire. Even supposedly Dompu Kingdom is one of the oldest kingdom, especially in parts of eastern Indonesia. Archaeologists from the Archaeological Research Center Hall and Archaeology Drs.Sukandar and Dra. Kusuma Ayu when doing research in Dompu some time ago had declared that from the various research results in Dompu can be concluded that the Dompu (Dompo Kingdom-Red) is the oldest kingdom of the Eastern region of Indonesia.
But unfortunately, unlike in Lombok, Sumbawa and Bima in which to learn more about the Kingdom of the past three neighboring regions are widely supported by a variety of authentic evidence which can describe about the past historical events, while in Dompu authentic evidence to support the existence of past history apparently still lacking at all could even be said it is now almost nonexistent. Perhaps this is one of the duties and obligations, especially for the younger generation in this area for more work hard so that the various historical mystery veil of the past can be revealed even if it takes struggle and effort that enough material even though time-consuming. Dompu district government efforts in order to achieve this should presumably be supported by all parties, even local government itself has much Dompu and of course the job will succeed if it is always received support and do, a blessing from all walks of life who have and do not actually job it is considered will only waste energy and waste only. "A wise man said, too arrogant and hypocritical if we forget our own history", hopefully it will never happen, amen.
